Vanguard News Igbo in America condemn rising insecurity in Nigeria On By Festus Ahon, ASABA IGBO people in the United States of America under the aegis of the Igbo Union has condemned the spate of insecurity in the country and frowned at the Federal Government’s disposition in addressing the challenges. The body which is an umbrella organization of Igbo communities and Cultural Association in America, berated the Federal Government for the way and manner it was handling challenges of banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and killings in the country and in Igbo land in particular. They lamented that South-East Governors were not rising to the occasion of protecting the lives and property of the people.

Views: Visits 3 University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) has urged Nigerians to shun the idea of prioritizing ethnicity, tribalism and religion over competency, which is a threat to national development. Speaking during the 26th Pre-Ramadan lecture of the alumni themed: ‘Though Tribe and Tongue May Differ: Interrogating Nigeria’s Nationhood’, the former member of the House of Representatives, Dr. Usman Bugaje, stated that competency in governance remains the driving force that can take Nigeria to a greater height. Bugaje urged the ruling class and elite to focus on the next generation, adding that national consensus is very key as a panacea to the issues arising from conflict.
