NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Could there be an answer on broadband funding for Deep East Texas by the end of the week? Possibly.
Lonnie Hunt, the executive director for the Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG), said in today’s Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Stakeholders conference call that an answer on one grant application may be coming very soon. The other may take a couple of months.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - A warning from the FBI about scammers trying to cash in on those vaccines.
People who want the COVID-19 vaccine are warned donât fall to any suspicious claims.
City of Nacogdoches spokesperson Jessica Sowell is alerting the community.
âYou might have a COVID scam on your hands if you people are asking you to pay out of pocket for a vaccine, if they are asking you to sign up on a waiting list, if theyâre asking you pay and then have shipment of the vaccine sent to you.â
The Jasper County Commissioners Court met in a Regular Session on Monday, December 21, 2020, and covered the following agenda items:
In Law enforcement, Sheriff Mitchell Newman requested the Court to consider paying off the Sheriffâs Office employees accrued compensation time from the Prisoner Reimbursement Fund. The Court voted to pay the accrued compensation in the amount of $43,874.93.
Concluding law enforcement business, Sheriff Newman presented the Sheriffâs monthly Jail Report. For the month of November, the jail invoiced Newton County in the amount of $12,360, Sabine County $3,080, and Tyler County $9,920 for a total of $ 25,360.
