Kurt R. Niemi
MARQUETTE, MI – Kurt R. Niemi, 69, of Marquette, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020, at the Norlite Nursing Center, where he had resided for the past three years.
Kurt was born on May 26, 1951m in Bessemer, Michigan, a son of the late Earl and Viola (Auvinen) Niemi. He was a 1969 graduate of Allen Park High School in Allen Park. He held a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science from Northern Michigan University in Psychology. He also held an international certification in Clinical Supervising.
Kurt was formerly employed at the White Pine Copper Mine, an accountant at Bloomfield Mortgage and held a realtor’s license. He was a co-owner along with his mother of K’s Korner in Marquette Township. He also worked as a substance abuse counselor at Marquette General Hospital, retiring in 2010, due to poor health.

Kenny Golladay chose to attend St. Rita High School for the combination of athletics and academics offered by the Catholic school that was within walking distance of his home on Chicago s south side.
Golladay got the athletics and academics he was expecting, and a lot more.
He got so much more, in fact, that Golladay credits the entire high school rather than a single teacher for starting him on the path to what he has accomplished in his four seasons as a wide receiver with the Detroit Lions and his personal development off the gridiron. For starters, it was just the brotherhood, Golladay said, speaking warmly of his four years at St. Rita. I went there for academics, but also for athletics. It went hand in hand.
