Arbor Financial Credit Union announces winners of 2021 Community Scholarship Program
KALAMAZOO, MI (May 27, 2021) Arbor Financial Credit Union is pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 Arbor Financial Community Scholarship Program.
Arbor Financial awards $24,000 annually to high school seniors in Michigan. Since the creation of the scholarship program in 1999, Arbor Financial has awarded $504,000 to area students through the program. Each spring, there are twelve $2,000 scholarships awarded which were based on the strength of the essay. This year’s question that was posed to students was, “Often, the challenges we face in life will result in wisdom gained. Share a challenge you have faced and how you overcame it. What did you learn from the experience?”
Change-Ups: Kalaczinski named MOAâs Educator of the Year
Lillian Kalaczinski, an associate professor for Ferris State Universityâs Michigan College of Optometry, has been named the Michigan Optometric Associationâs 2021 Educator of the Year. Kalaczinski is a 1998 MCO graduate following three years in the pre-optometry program at Ferris. Kalaczinski served as director of vision services at a Grand Rapids-area community health center before joining the MCO faculty in 2015. Kalaczinski also is chief of primary care services at the University Eye Center, and an adviser to registered student organizations unique to the college.

Rehmann won Clearlyratedâs Best of Accounting Diamond Award for providing superior service to its clients for at least five consecutive years. Rehmann received satisfaction scores of 9 or 10 from 82% of its clients, significantly higher than the industryâs average of 43% in 2020.

The National Association for Business Resources selected a large group of companies in West Michigan as exemplar organizations to work for due to their âinnovative and thoughtfulâ approach to human resources.

A Kalamazoo-based credit union opened a new branch in Hudsonville.
Arbor Financial Credit Union opened a location Monday at 3961 32nd Ave. in Hudsonville. It is Arbor’s 12
th branch overall and third in the Grand Rapids area.
The new branch will “better serve (Arbor’s) growing membership and expand its presence in the market,” the credit union said.
“We are excited by the growth we’ve been experiencing and are thrilled to join the Hudsonville community where we can better serve our neighbors and area businesses,” said Julie Blitchok, Arbor Financial CEO.
