Stone Zoo to host sip and stroll events

Stone Zoo, 149 Pond St., Stoneham, will host two sip and stroll events on July 31 and Aug. 21.
Stone Zoo will present Flamingle, an exclusive 21+ fundraising evening of animal encounters, music and a four-course tasting menu from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 31. Seasons 52 of Burlington and Bedford Cupcakes will also be providing additional desserts.
Guests can mix and mingle, enjoy the sounds of the Caribbean with a live steel drum band and learn about important conservation initiatives from the zoo’s animal care team, educators and field conservation staff. Complimentary brews will be provided by Turtle Swamp Brewery, with wine provided by Jam Jar and Indaba.

Outraged at lawsuits challenging a pair of affordable housing projects in Jamaica Plain, Boston City Councilors Matt O’Malley and Kenzie Bok are seeking to remove off-street parking requirements for housing developments that include 100 percent affordable units.
Jamaica Plain commercial landlord Montgomery Gold is appealing the 38-unit affordable housing project by Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corp. at 3377 Washington St. and recently settled a lawsuit that delayed groundbreaking of a 202-unit affordable housing project by the Pine Street Inn at 3368 Washington St.
