Mydukur is the only saving grace for TD

KADAPA: YSR Congress had a thumping landslide in Kadapa district, where barring Mydukur, it amassed absolute majority in all municipalities, the results for which were declared on Sunday.
In Mydukur, Telugu Desam pocketed 12 of the 24 wards while YSR Congress won in 11 and Jana Sena bagged one.
Meanwhile, Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy and Mydukur MLA Settipalli Raghurami Reddy exercising the ex-officio vote are to vote in favour of the ruling party.

The state municipal elections is witnessing a triangular fight between the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In the elections, YSRCP is in a secure place as it is contesting the municipal polls on the back of its victory in the recent panchayat elections, in which the party bagged a majority of seats. Following the YSRCP victory, TDP stood at a distant second position.

The polling percentage in the Kurnool district at 9 a.m. was 10.92. The polling in urban local body elections began on a peaceful note in 11 local bodies in Anantapur and seven local bodies in Kurnool district and it was very brisk in Anantapur with 11.61% recorded in the first two hours till 9 a.m. The polling percentage in the Kurnool district at 9 a.m. was 10.92.

Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and his wife cast their votes at C. V. R. High School in Vijayawada city. Elections for 12 municipal corporations and 71 municipalities in Andhra Pradesh are going on peacefully under close watch by the State Election Commission.
Commissioner N. Ramesh Kumar visited a few polling stations in Vijayawada city along with district Collector A Md. Imtiaz and some other officials.

The poll percentage was only 18.02% in Vizianagaram but other municipalities are relatively better with the voters’ turnout. As expected, voting percentage has not crossed even 20% by 10 a.m. in Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation, thanks to poor distribution of voters’ slips and confusion over identification of the respective polling booths.
