Hundreds of steaks, beef cheeks and any other cuts of beef were cooked in the celebrity chef kitchen over the week at Beef Australia.

Congratulations to the Gympie Regional Council on its staging ( with State Government support) of an excellent, family-oriented celebration of Australia Day at the Showgrounds on January 26.
As promised, it was a festive smorgasbord of food and music ; but there was much else to be enjoyed.
There was certainly a wide variety of culinary offerings ranging from the traditional Aussie fare of pies and fish and chips to exotic dishes from Spain, Brazil and Japan to name just a few of the more representative of the multicultural Australia of today.

Subscriber only Wide Bay-Burnett locals will get a flavour of Australia on Tuesday, with the region combining generous helpings of the area s best food, music and activities as part of a family-friendly Australia Day events program. An annual highlight of the program is the popular food and music festival, Great Australian Bites - this year, held in Bargara and Gympie. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she encouraged all Queenslanders to attend a COVID safe Australia Day event in their region. It s been a challenging year for all of us, the Premier said. This is a great opportunity to reflect on the positives and support local businesses that are still doing it tough.
“Gympie Regional Council is inviting members of the public to come together to reflect, respect and celebrate on Australia Day,” a council statement has announced.
“There will be something for the whole family to enjoy including delicious food from over 20 local suppliers and for the first time will feature a special Australia Day menu, showcasing each of their signature dishes,” it says.
Food demonstrations and the best live music will be on display across three stages, featuring
performances from local artists Alison Jensen, Dan Horne, Emma Beau, Mason Hope, Chris Ah Gee & Jazella, Linc Phelps, Aspy Jones and Tennessee Lights.
