Salvador de Alba Jr. quiere ser el próximo Sergio Pérez, Patricio O’Ward o Daniel Suárez, el próximo piloto mexicano en establecerse en un serial internacional.
Su travesía inició esta semana en el circuito de Mid-Ohio, donde de Alba probó un vehículo de Indy Lights para Andretti Autosport. Nunca había estado a bordo de un carro de Indy y calcula que en su preparación dio “al menos 6.000 vueltas” en el circuito en línea de 3,6 kilómetros (2,2 millas) de iRacing.
El simple hecho de conducir el vehículo de Indy Lights de Andretti habría sido suficiente para calificar su viaje a Ohio como un éxito. Pero de Alba vivió una experiencia completa que superó al más ambicioso de sus sueños. El piloto de 21 años recibió consejos de O’Ward antes de su prueba, vio su primera carrera de IndyCar en vivo y luego viajó a Indianápolis para visitar las instalaciones centrales de Andretti y realizar un recorrido privado del Indianapolis Motor

2021/02/16 04:07 INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Former CART rivals Michael Andretti and Michel Jourdain Jr. will team up to run the No. 1 car in Mexico s Super Copa Championship series. The two former drivers made the announcement Monday. By adding the Super Copa touring series to Andretti s stable, his team will compete in seven different racing series this season. The newly formed Andretti Jourdain Autosport has not yet named a driver for the eight-race schedule. For Andretti, the attraction to the Mexican-based series was simple. “It’s a good opportunity for us to maybe find some young Mexican talent and start grooming (the drivers) to see if we can get the next Michel Jourdain to come to IndyCars, Andretti said. “I think it would be very important to have IndyCar back in Mexico, and I think having Pato (O Ward) there, being competitive, would help as well. It could be a step closer to having racing in Mexico City.
