Lawton woman concerned after camera captures people checking car doors overnight

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - A Lawton woman says surveillance video shows people walking around and checking to see if cars were unlocked Tuesday morning.
“I saw three what I believe was young gentlemen checking our vehicles to see if they could find something else unlocked to take more things,” said Michelle Ford.
Ford purchased the camera after her car was broken into a few weeks ago.
“I just wanted to take more steps to keep my community safer. I’m a single mom, I’m a veteran and I want to feel safe where I stay, I hope everyone else does too,” Ford said.

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - A local organization is upset about some vandalism at Lawtonâs skate park and the Police Department is warning people against committing these crimes.
Two years ago, Young Professionals of Lawton painted the ramps in the skate park at McMahon Park as a part of United Wayâs Day of Caring.
Criminals vandalized it in the last several weeks with bright pink and blue spray paint.
Young Professionalsâ Albert Rivas said itâs disheartening to see others do this to volunteersâ hard work.

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - If youâre looking for a new career, the City of Lawton is hiring police officers and firefighters.
Being a firefighter is not an easy career, but it is a fulfilling one, according to Training Officer Joshua Brown.
Youâll need two qualities first, empathy and compassion for others.
âThe most fulfilling thing about being a firefighter is, and not to sound cliché, is the ability to give back,â Brown said. âWe really do have a fulfilling job, and thereâs nothing more fulfilling than helping somebody thatâs having a pretty rough day. They call us at their worst times, and weâre able to help out.â
