RACQ CapRescue to celebrate 25 years of service

Supporters of the helicopter rescue service will gather at the Rockhampton Leagues Club for the RACQ CapRescue 25th Anniversary Ball, presented by QMag, on July 16. DC Motors dealer principal Sheamus O’Raghallaigh said the team was delighted to once again sponsor the RACQ CapRescue Ball. “This year it is a special one. The 25th year of service in the Central Queensland region,” he said. “As a community we need to help these selfless people raise ever so important funds.” As the pre-dinner event sponsors, DC Motors provide a highlight to the night with attendees gathering for drinks and canapes under the glowing lights on Browne Park, with RACQ CapRescue’s lifesaving aircraft as the backdrop.

Ghyll Royd s theatre of dreams becomes a reality

GHYLL Royd School and Pre-School in Burley-in-Wharfedale has unveiled its brand-new retractable theatre seating. The Theatre of Dreams has been a long sought-after addition to the school’s multipurpose hall which is currently used for performances, sports fixtures and large events. The hall is also home to local sports clubs including Olicana Gymnastics and Ilkley Harriers, who will now benefit from additional seating for spectators. Fundraising for the seats began in 2017, launched by Channel 4’s Brendan Sheerin, host of Coach Trip and a regular pantomime star. Children asked him questions about his life travelling the world and what it is like to work in television and on stage. When asked about the importance of getting a good seat, the famous tour guide said: “I always appreciate a good seat as it enhances people’s enjoyment of any performance.”

Helicopter rescue appeals for lifesaving donations

Premium Content Subscriber only Twenty-five years ago, John Bavea had a dream that a service was needed to keep the people of Central Queensland safe, in a region as diverse as it is vast. It was the beginning of RACQ Capricorn Rescue. Now the service is capable of first-class aeromedical retrieval and search and rescue operations, and is on call 24/7, 365 days a year, free of charge. It has rescued more than 9000 people so far and in its 25th year is asking for help with its 2021 Annual Appeal. RACQ Capricorn Rescue requires more than $10 million annually to continue running, 60 per cent of which it receives from the State Government.
