The GE Pensioners and Quarter Century Club Picnic, featuring free food, beer, games, and prizes, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at the VFW pavilion on East Housatonic Street.
Retirees will pay $7 for tickets purchased or held by Aug. 19 and $10 after this date or at the door. All guests pay $15.

A new organization in Jacksonville will be helping those with criminal records develop the skills and reintegration into the community.
Fresh Start Rehabilitation and Correctional Services at 600 N. Clay Ave. is an organization that will be providing a variety of programs and resources to people with a criminal record that will give them the necessary tools to become productive members of society.
Mark McFarland, one of the founders of the organization, said the organization is all about second chances.
