The consultation by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) on its proposed levy for the period from 2022 to 2025 has now closed. The CITB is finalising its levy proposals before opening a period of consensus from 4 June 2021 to 15 August 2021 during which construction businesses will be able to comment. The CITB levy applies to all employers engaged wholly or mainly in construction industry activities and is used by the CITB to ensure that construction employers have the skilled workforce they need. Levy rates have been temporarily reduced to reflect financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. NIC calls for funding for National Digital Twin programme

Topics The National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) has urged the government to provide the funding needed for the National Digital Twin programme. In its Annual Monitoring Report 2021 it has also called for a focus on accelerating the roll out of high capacity broadband and set targets for the availability of 5G. Its section on digital and data points to the potential for the National Digital Twin, the programme for which is run by the Centre for Digital Built Britain and is aimed at creating an ecosystem of digital twins to support planning, investment and monitoring of infrastructure and the built environment.

    The Rural Needs Annual Monitoring Report is an integral part of the rural needs monitoring process as it provides a formal record of all Rural Needs Impact Assessments undertaken by public authorities.     Publishing the Report, Minister Poots says, “The introduction of the Rural Needs Act (NI) 2016 was an important milestone in rural life here. “It legislated across government and the NI public sector the requirement to consider how strategies and policies often have a different impact in rural areas than in urban areas.  “I am pleased to present the Rural Needs Annual Monitoring Report covering the reporting period 1 April 2019 – 31 March 2020.
