The city made two recent land transactions – one purchase and one sale – as part of efforts to facilitate development.
The purchase of about 15 acres of land – mostly along the Union Pacific railroad tracks just south of the overpass and east of John Wayne Parkway – cost $5.9 million. It was bought from Michigan developer Shaun Ridge LLC.
The city intends to use the land to develop a public market and infrastructure, including streets, utilities and green space, according to the city’s draft capital improvement projects plan. It is intended to spur economic, residential and retail development as part of its plans for Maricopa Station, which encompasses the total acreage south of the overpass where the east side of Honeycutt Av
Village sees start of three-story building project
Construction of a three-story office building at a Hillsboro Village site located across 20th Avenue from the district s U.S. Post Office branch is slated to start.
A permit has been issued to allow for work at the site, which has address of 1818 20th Ave. S. and 1912 Acklen Ave. Brilliant Design Inc. is listed on the permit, which notes the first level will be for parking, with floors two and three for offices.
According to a Metro filing, Gallatin-based developer Steven DiLeo will serve as project manager. No building will need to be demolished to accommodate the future structure. A surface parking lot operates on the site, located at the intersection of 20th and Acklen.
