Flagler Government Lifts Masking Rules But Flagler Beach Commissioner Warns Mullins: Don t Tell Us What To Do

Flagler County government is lifting covid-related masking requirements on entering the Government Services Building in Bunnell. (© FlaglerLive) The Flagler County government administration this morning ended the masking requirement inside government facilities, recommending masking instead when in the presence of others indoors. The County Commission also repealed a resolution that had recommended mask-wearing countywide, “because it no longer applies to today’s world,” in the words of Emergency Management Chief Jonathan Lord, who recommended both actions.  “This morning while we were all sitting in here,” Lord said, “the governor also publicly announced that he is going to invalidate all local restrictions anyway, within the next month or so.” Speaking to commissioners this morning, he added: “The big point I want to make is, Covid is not over, but we’re at a different place than we were back when you did that resolution, than we were even a month ago. Mullins, the Constitution matters in Flagler All of it All the time

News-Journal editorial board It would be silly to pretend that the U.S. Constitution doesn’t matter in Flagler County. Of course it does. Flagler County Commissioners at today’s meeting. From left, Dave Sullivan, Joe Mullins, Donald O’Brien, and Andy Dance. Greg Hansen, who is ill, was absent. A few people addressing the Flagler County Commission this morning called on the resignation of Joe Mullins for sponsoring the travels to and taking part in last week’s protest-turned-riot on the U.S. Capitol. Mullins had days earlier called for the beheading of liberals and used commission letterhead to repeat the false narrative of a fraudulent election and urge Florida’s congressional election to overturn the presidential vote.  County commissioners–who three times last year refused to discipline or censure Mullins for bigoted, racist, offensive or threatening language, including insults and threats against fellow-commissioners–again mostly declined to address their colleague’s acts or behavior, with one exception: newly-seated Commissioner Andy Dance recommended a commission “retreat” or something like it
