April 8, 2021 A woman shot and killed her boyfriend in Atmore Wednesday, but so far police say she has not been charged. The woman called 911 to report that she had shot her boyfriend during a domestic violence incident in the 3300 block of Woods Road. The Atmore Police Department, Escambia County (AL) Sheriff’s Office and ASAP Ambulance responded. Officers entered the home and found a male on the floor suffering from a single gunshot wound, according to Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks. James Dennis Stanley II of Prichard, Alabama, was pronounced deceased on the scene. “Evidence collected at the home by investigators suggest a violent confrontation occurred shortly before the shooting occurred,” Brooks said. “At this time, no arrest has been made, but the case is still under investigation by APD Investigations.”

February 17, 2021 An Ohio woman that allegedly stole a vehicle in Atmore led police on a chase that ended with a crash in Baldwin County. Shortly before 7:30 Tuesday morning, 22-year old Hayli Lape of Columbus, Ohio, jumped into Chevrolet Tahoe that was parked at a gas station on Highway 21 in Atmore, according to police. She sped away, damaging the pump. The Alabama Highway Patrol and Atmore Police caught up with the vehicle and pursued it south on I-65. Lape exited onto Baldwin County Highway 47 at Perdido. Lape crashed and then attempted to get away on foot, according to Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks. She was apprehended a short time later. She was transported to North Baldwin Hospital In Bay Minette where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

January 19, 2021 A man wanted for the shooting death of a teen last November in Atmore has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in Austin, Texas. Rodarious Tyrig Dailey, 22, is awaiting extradition back to Alabama to face a murder charge. Just before 4:30 p.m. on November 27, 2020, , the Atmore Police Department received a 911 call reporting that one person had been shot at 163 Harris Street. Atmore officers arrived to find the 17-year old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body area, according to Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks. The teen was transported by ambulance to Atmore Community Hospital where he later died.
