General Raymond G. Davis, 13 Jan 1915 - 03 Sept 2003,who earned the Medal of
Honor in Korea in 1950, retired from active duty March 31, 1972, after more than 33 years on active duty. His last assignment was as Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps from March 12, 1971 until March 31, 1972. As a lieutenant colonel in Korea, General Davis earned the Nation s highest decoration for heroism during the 1st Marine Division s historic fight to break out of the Chosin Reservoir area. There, against overwhelming odds, he led his battalion in a terrific four-day battle which saved a rifle company from annihilation and opened a mountain pass for the escape of two trapped Marine regiments. GREAT FALLS â The building was rocking on Sunday evening at Alexander Temple Church in Great Falls - but not just the building in Great Falls. Churches in Japan, Vietnam, Jamaica, and other countries were also in on the action. Churches from across the globe lent their singing voices to Mercy Ships for a âVirtual Global Gospel Explosionâ charity event organized by church officials in Great Falls.
Mercy Ships travels across the world providing surgeries and aid to people in need free of charge, and also trains doctors in those countries to continue to care for their countyâs citizens after the healthcare ships leave.
