Greg and Bobbi Hadberg and Rob Snyder own those vehicles and said they are different from golf carts, which also are prohibited. “They’re nothing like golf carts,” Greg said. Snider noted they are gas-powered and require a license, registration and insurance. Council will review the request and assign it to a committee to explore. Mayor Jamie Brucker noted one concern is the presence of several state routes that intersect the village corporation limits.

Mobile home ordinance approved in Cardington CARDINGTON Village Council on April 5 approved an ordinance amending previous legislation on mobile homes. It states: “Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, (reference to Chapter 1117 R-1 Single Family Residence District) any property owner seeking to replace an existing manufactured home or mobile home will not be required to seek a use or area variance so long as the replacement dwelling, manufactured home or mobile home otherwise meets current R-1 Zoning requirements; the replacement dwelling, manufactured home or mobile home is built using the same footprint as the manufactured home or mobile home it is replacing and is built on a concrete foundation with a crawl space or basement; the replacement dwelling, manufactured home or mobile home is recorded as real estate for real property tax purposes;

Changes made to village’s spring clean-up By Anthony Conchel - aconchel@aimmediamidwest.com MOUNT GILEAD The village spring clean-up for trash will be April 15, 16 and 17. Instead of curbside pickup, there will be trash bins located at the pool parking lot on Cherry Street. The hours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a village employee will be there to check for residency and assist if needed. The following items will not be accepted: hazardous materials, tires, yard waste, metal and appliances. Mayor Jamie Brucker said the change in process is needed to increase efficiency in the collection process and keep trash from blowing into the streets.

Mount Gilead showing progress MOUNT GILEAD Village Administrator Derek Allen reported to village council about progress in a few areas. He cited the Pillar Credit Union building on Meadow Drive that had a ribbon cutting on Friday. Also, the dilapidated HPM structure has mostly been razed as the clearing of that land for future re-development continues. “It’s sad to see that history disappear,” said council member Kay Hines. The Village Service Department has worked on ball diamonds to prepare for baseball and softball seasons. Concession stand and restrooms at the pool are being prepared for use by the leagues this summer.
