Shroff re-elected unopposed as Asian Sailing Federation President Sunday, 21 February 2021
Dr Malav Shroff has been re-elected unopposed as the President of the Asian Sailing Federation (ASAF) at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting, which took place virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Zhang Xiaodong was the only other nominee standing for the post, but she withdrew due to personal reasons.
Dr Shroff is due to serve a further four year term through to 2025, and following his re-election he unveiled his vision for ASAF going forward.
Dr Shroff’s plans for his tenure include helping more countries develop stronger programmes in sailing, with a pledge of developing Asian Centres of Development and Excellence throughout the continent to help towards this aim.

Lim, Secretary General congratulated Dr. Shroff on being returned as ASAF President and wished him the very best for his tenure. Dr. Shroff thanked all MNAs present at the AGM, and for voting in encouraging numbers.
He further underlined his vision for ASAF for the next 4 years, as follows:
1. Help more countries develop stronger programs for sailing
2. Increase female participation in Asia in sailing, coaching and technical officials
3. Increase regional events and get more participation from all countries
4. Develop Asian Centers of development and Excellence in various parts of emerging Asia to help more countries grow the sport of sailing.
