ATC seeks call records of two lawyers booked in sessions court attack
ISLAMABAD:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday extended judicial remands of 12 arrested lawyers in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) attack case. ATC Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan presided over the case.
The lawyers involved in the IHC attack, including Raja Zahid, Naveed Hayat Malik, Khizer Khan, Liaquat Manzoor Kamboah, Asif Irfan, Najam Abbas Faisal Khan, Zafar Khokhar, Shoaib Gujjar, Muhammad Omar, and Asad Khan were presented before the court.
The counsel for the petitioners said that Qaiser Nawaz and Shoaib Gujjar had filed post-bail pleas in IHC and urged to wait for the high court’s decision. At this, the court directed to submit a copy of the IHC order by 1pm or else the hearing would be heard on Friday (today).

LAHORE: The Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) and Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Tuesday expressed support for the stance of Islamabad’s lawyers protesting against the demolition of their chambers by the capital administration.
In separate statements issued on behalf of PbBC vice chairman Sardar Abdul Basit, LHCBA president Tahir Nasaraullah Warraich and other office-bearers, the two bodies said the chambers of the lawyers bulldozed in Islamabad had been built five years ago. They demanded the government reconstruct the demolished chambers of the lawyers and take action against the officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) involved in the ‘illegal’ operation.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) witnessed a dark day on Monday after it was stormed and damaged by angry lawyers protesting the demolition of their chambers by the city’s civic authority.
The violent lawyers laid siege to the courtroom and the chamber of IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah, virtually keeping him hostage for about three hours. They barged into the offices of the secretary to the IHC chief justice and his auxiliary staff, broke windows and even doors of the Chief Justice Block.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday restrained Naeem Bokhari from working as chairman of Pakistan Television (PTV) while hearing identical petitions against his appointment.
Presiding over the case, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah observed that there needed to be a clear reason for relaxing the upper age limit for 65-year-old Bokhari, referencing the Supreme Court decision to set aside the appointment of Ataul Haq Qasmi as the PTV chairman.
The court noted that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had repeated the same mistakes as those in Qasmi’s case and had not perused the apex court’s judgement when sending the summary to the federal cabinet.
