Guwahati: The number of COVID positive cases is gradually rising in Assam. The state recorded 876 new cases in the last 24 hours (as on April 17). Two deaths have been reported during the same period.
Kamrup (Metro), the district that includes the Assam s main city Guwahati, continues to be the worst hit with 360 new cases, followed by Kamrup (Rural) recording 56 cases, Sonitpur with 47 cases, and Dibrugarh with 42 cases in the last 24 hours.

It is scary as the number of COVID cases are rising one more time. This is the second wave of COVID in India. Assam has already recorded 590 new cases and one death as of April 13. All this when the state is celebrating Rongali or Bohag Bihu, all set to usher in the Assamese New Year. The focus once again is back on wearing the face mask, maintaining distance from one another, and ensuring washing of hands.
