JOINT STATEMENT The Premier has announced a wide-ranging review into the experience of women across the criminal justice system to be undertaken by the Women’s Safety and Justice taskforce, led by Margaret McMurdo AC. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said last month’s announcement to legislate against coercive control was the first part of work being done by the taskforce that is also going to examine issues faced by women when accessing the criminal justice system. “We know that women face barriers when reporting against domestic, family and sexual violence,” the Premier said. “And while we’ve made significant progress to prevent and respond to domestic, family and sexual violence in Queensland, we know there is more work to be done. ....

About 11.30pm on Saturday 27 February 2021, a 29-year-old man attended a hotel on Barber Street, Gunnedah, when he was approached by four males. During an altercation, the group assaulted the man, punching and kicking him. He was taken to Gunnedah Hospital for treatment to facial injuries. Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended and commenced an investigation. ....
Date Time Woman charged as investigations continue into three separate arson attacks A woman has been charged as investigations continue into three separate arson attacks at supplement stores across Sydney over the past two years. Detectives from the Financial Crimes Squad’s Arson Unit established Strike Force Calinda to investigate three alleged arson attacks at supplement stores between July 2019 and November 2020, which are believed to be targeted and linked. The incidents include – About 1.30am on Thursday 25 July 2019, emergency services were called to a business at Queens Street, St Marys, following reports of a fire. The blaze was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW and the business sustained significant damage. No injuries were reported during the incident. Police were told, two men had been seen allegedly attempting to enter the premises, before breaking through the security shutters and setting the business on fire. The pair were last seen fleeing ....
