New Oakcrest Coach Ready for Challenge
For 10 years, Mike Forest served as wide receivers coach under Tim Watson at Cedar Creek, and not once during that time did Forest ever harbor dreams of one day becoming a head coach. In fact, he said he never would have those ambitions unless the job came open at his alma mater.
Earlier this year, Forest who helped develop some outstanding receivers during his time at Cedar Creek, such as Amir Mitchell, Bo Melton, Malachi Melton and Jojo Bermudez was hired to be the next head coach at Oakcrest High School after Eric Anderson announced his decision to step down after five seasons. Techâs run of success from 1993-2019 was the longest-active bowl streak in the nation, and the fourth-longest all-time.
âI think it speaks to the difficulty of the season that theyâve been through,â says Fuente. âThere were players that wanted to play. They were passionate about that. But we were going to do this all-together, or not. This was ultimately about our kids, and I think theyâve sacrificed enough.â

On a day when he introduced 23 recruits into his Rutgers football program, Greg Schiano didn’t want to single out any particular area.
Schiano said he liked the way his staff scattered throughout Rutgers’ recruiting footprint to land players outside of the Garden State, landing commitments from three players from Ohio and Florida, two from Pennsylvania and one each from Colorado, Illinois, Maryland and Virginia.
