Adams embarks on formulating a strategy to revitalize downtown businesses, foot traffic

ADAMS — Local planners, using state money, are working on 14 plans to help the downtown area recover from coronavirus pandemic damage and, thus, revitalize the town. During the July 15 meeting to gather input from Adams residents on the plans, Mark Maloy, a manager at the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission, explained it was all part of the state’s Local Rapid Recovery Plan program, which is funded and designed to aid in the revitalization of downtowns across the state. Volunteers Needed To Beautify Bend

The City of Bend's Beautification Program is seeking volunteers to help support the Pollinator Pathway Project, a new initiative that aims to create a continuous corridor of native pollinator gardens between residences, businesses, parks and open spaces throughout Bend and beyond. Bend's Beautification Program is joining other public and private partners in supporting this work to provide habitats for pollinators such as butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. The City is allowing some projects to occur on some City-owned properties, and using its volunteers for this effort. Local business Oregrown is paying for plant materials and providing volunteers from its staff. Native pollinator plants were recently installed at Franklin's Corner Community Garden at NE 9th Street and Franklin Avenue, and the Wall and Bond Pocket Park. Other efforts include plantings on the Veteran's Memorial Bridge today (May 27) and within the new Neighborhood Greenways traffic

More Critical Needs: Council Firmly Rejects Funds for Beautification Plan – Chelsea Record

The Council voted decidedly against a nearly $300,000 expenditure that would have funded an extensive Beautification Program concentrated in the downtown areas, noting that there were more critical needs for the money at this time. The Council voted 2-7 in the defeat, which had been championed for some time by Councillor Naomi Zabot. Councillor Naomi Zabot advocated just under $300,0000 – but the matter was defeated 2-7. “This is something I’m very, very passionate about,” said Zabot. “In terms of the pandemic and the financial situation we’re I, we are getting federal funding to fill in those gaps.
