Submitting. Commemorating the opening of the Ulster Parliament Buildings Today John is sharing some of the exhibits here marking the ongoing NI 100 centenary programme, which the whole of the UK’s postal service has been celebrating. During April and May, here and in England, Wales and Scotland, there has been a special hand-stamp (the inked postmark on envelopes, sometimes called ‘franking’) marking the centenary with the slogan ‘Our Story in the Making - Northern Ireland Beyond 100’. The Queen has sent her “warmest good wishes” to the people of Northern Ireland on the date which many consider to be its centenary. She referred to “treasured” memories she shared in Northern Ireland with her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, and paid tribute to its people. Prime Minister Boris Johnson also marked the date, describing it as a “very significant national anniversary, marking the 100th year since the Government of Ireland Act came into effect and the formation of the United Kingdom as we know it today”. In a statement, the Queen paid tribute to the people of Northern Ireland.
