HM Land Registry has confirmed it is working with a handful of software suppliers to support the migration of local land charges (LLC) data onto its central registry.
A spokesperson said it has arrangements with four companies that provide systems for LLCs – DEF Software, Idox, Northgate and Agile Applications – to migrate the data in England and Wales to the LLC Register, with the aim of completing the move by 2025.
DEF Software said it agreed its partnership with the agency in December 2020 and is now working with 13 local authorities to update their land charge modules.
This involves developing the interface of its system to facilitate a smoother migration of the data to the central register developed by Kainos.

From today (Wednesday 28 April), anyone requiring local land charges (LLC) searches in the Sevenoaks local authority area will need to get them from HM Land Registry rather than going directly to the council.

From today (1 April 2021), the Local Land Charges (Fees) (Wales) Rules 2021 come into force. These rules align the Welsh Local Land Charges (LLC) service fees payable to the Chief Land Registrar with those payable in England. It will enable the transfer of Welsh local authority LLC data to the central register.
Allison Bradbury, Head of Local Land Charges Implementation, said:
The LLC programme has worked closely with the Welsh Government to support the Local Land Charges (Fees) consultation and legislation introduction.
