Robert P Gordon | News, Sports, Jobs - Altoona Mirror

Gordon Robert P. Gordon, 88, of Hollidaysburg, formerly of Claysburg, passed away Friday at home. He was born in Claysburg, son of the late Samuel S. and Geraldine (Amick) Gordon. He married Jean Roudabush on Sept. 23, 1951, at Grace United Church of Christ, Claysburg. Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Crystal L. Gilchrist and husband, Andrew, of Schwenksville and Cynthia G. John and husband, Clayton, of Claysburg; five grandsons: Robert, Joseph, David, Christian and Ian; 10 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Samuel, Regina and Daniel; two aunts, Fleta and Helen; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was a 1950 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School, where he was voted class president. He received a varsity letter in three sports all four years of school and signed a professional contract to play baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Shaffer C. Richard “Dick” Shaffer, 80, of Hollidaysburg, died Friday at his residence. Dick was the son of the late Clyde and Bertha (Kelly) Shaffer of Belle Vernon, where he was born and raised until leaving in 1962. He married Judith Ann Long of Altoona on Dec. 18, 1965, in Altoona. Surviving are his devoted wife of 55 years; two loving daughters, Jill Denise Branter (Jim) of Hollidaysburg and Jennifer Lynn Baiocco (Chris) of Schenectady, N.Y.; three grandchildren: Aaron David Burger, Elijah Matthew Brantner and Sevilla Annette Baiocco; and two nieces, Deborah Ann Gutherie (David) and Rebecca Sue Manack, both in Virginia. He was preceded in death by a sister, Caroline “Carolyn” Ann Manack, and Dick’s brother-in-law, Tony, in Virginia. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Henry W. Gene Henry, 88, of Martinsburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring. He was born at the original Nason Hospital in Roaring Spring, son of the late Dr. Harry E. and Marian L. (Ake) Henry and lived most of his life at the family home in Martinsburg. Surviving are a brother, E. Edward Henry of Mifflinburg; three nieces: Mitzi Jones of Camp Hill, Mindy Lind (Dale) of Lewisburg and Marcie Bechtold (William) of Chambersburg; three grand-nieces: Kelly Lapetina (Daniel), Amber Lind and Morgan Bechtold; two grand-nephews: Nathan Lind (Allison Grose) and Billy Bechtold (Heather Newman); and longtime friend and caregiver, James M. Reeves.
