Emirati boy, 5, dies after RAK drowning incident

Ras Al Khaimah: A five-year-old Emirati boy died 51 days after being admitted to Al Qassimi hospital ICU following a drowning incident at Ras Al Khaimah beach. On April 4, Zaid Saeed Al Sheihi was allegedly pulled from the seawater in Ras Al Khaimah. But on Tuesday morning, after 51 days, he lost his battle for life. The incident occurred on April 4 around 9am. The devastated family of the Emirati boy called on authorities to establish a permanent rescue unit at the beach to save lives of people. Several drowning incidents have been recorded in the same place. His uncle, Mohammad Ahmad Al Sheihi, told Gulf News that on the day of the tragedy, the mother took her children along their housemaid to the beach.

Supply chain inefficiencies a big factor in 1.3bn tonne food wastage DUBAI, February 25, 2021 A whopping 1.3 billion tonnes of edible food, equivalent to a third of global production, goes to waste every year through supply chain inefficiencies and consumer behaviours, according to industry experts at the Gulfood Innovation Summit.   Addressing a panel discussion titled ‘Food Waste: From Trash to Cash’, leaders in sustainability, technology and innovation for future food ecosystems discussion how a two-pronged approach of education and action is needed to tackle the growing global concern.   Sheikh Dr Majid Al Qassimi, founding partner of Soma Mater, the Middle East’s only food and agricultural sustainability consulting company, said food waste does not start with unfinished food in restaurants, it emerges in the supply chain.

Abu Dhabi Racing Record Two Top 10 Finishes at Dakar Rally 2021

THE EVENT WAS WON BY STÉPHANE PETERHANSEL ABU DHABI, January 21, 2020:  Abu Dhabi Racing secured two top 10 finishes in the Dakar Rally 2021, which recently came to a conclusion in Saudi Arabia. The 43rd edition of the rally raid was staged over a 14-day period in Saudi Arabia, which was hosting the event for the second time in its history. The event started and ended in Jeddah, giving competitors the opportunity to drive through the desert and along the Red Sea, with other destinations on the route including Riyadh, Al Qaisumah and Sakaka. It was a solid showing from Abu Dhabi Racing, with drivers Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi and Cyril Despres finishing seventh and tenth overall respectively.
