On Thursday, January 7th, 2021, David Leary Timmons passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Kihei, Maui at the age of 77. He was born on July 14th, 1943 in Cambridge, MA to Frederick and Madelyn Timmons and is survived by his two children Tiffany and Rian.
He lived a rich and ful-filling life as a stockbroker, cattle wrangler, traveler, friend, brother, and father. Making friends was easy for him and he left an impression on everyone he met. To his children, David was a loving father, a role model, and a teacher, whom they shared great adventures in the mountains of Idaho, on the beaches of Baja, and the many battles playing Backgammon!

When Dave Largent, a 6-foot-4 highschooler who looked like Clark Kent, tried out for the West High football team in the early ‘60s, the coach told him, ‘The long hair goes or you go.”
The long hair stayed and the legend of “Big Wave Dave” was born. Largent traveled the world in search of big waves before marrying his love Kimberly and raising sons Derek and Dane. Derek fulfilled his father’s football promise by becoming a star linebacker at San Diego State University.
