Pottstown woman faces trial for alleged role in gun trafficking network


POTTSTOWN — A Pottstown woman faces a trial on charges she illegally purchased guns for a multi-county gun trafficking network.
Maliqa Deja Jack, 25, of the 400 block of Chestnut Street, was ordered to stand trial, after waiving a preliminary hearing before District Court Judge Edward C. Kropp Sr., on charges of corrupt organizations, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, making false statements, criminal use of a communication facility and illegal sale or transfer of firearms in connection with a gun trafficking organization that allegedly relied heavily on so-called “straw purchase” schemes.
Jack remains free on bail while awaiting her next court appearance, a formal arraignment hearing in county court at which a judge could set a trial date. ....

The family of a Fair Acres Geritratic Center resident who died of pneumonia associated with COVID-19 in June has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the facility and Delaware County. The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania by attorney Stephen J. POTTSTOWN — Two men, one from Norristown and the other from Plymouth Meeting, must answer to charges in Montgomery County Court for their alleged roles in operating a multi-county gun trafficking organization that relied heavily on so-called “straw purchase” schemes.
Alexander Aaron Smith, 21, of the 3000 block of Jolly Road, Plymouth Meeting, and Daveese Smith, 22, of the 800 block of Smith Street, Norristown, each was ordered to stand trial, after preliminary hearings before District Court Judge Edward C. Makayla Prince, 22, of the first block of Monroe Street, Mohnton, was ordered to stand trial, after waiving a preliminary hearing before District Court Judge Edward C. Kropp Sr., on charges of corrupt organizations, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, making false statements, criminal use of a communication facility and illegal sale or transfer of firearms in connection with a gun trafficking organization that allegedly relied heavily on so-called “straw purchase” schemes.

NORRISTOWN — A Plymouth Township man faces a trial on charges he illegally purchased guns for a multi-county gun trafficking network.
Quinn O’Donnell Whisted, 22, of the 3000 block of Runnymede Drive, was ordered to stand trial, after a preliminary hearing before District Court Judge Edward C. Kropp Sr., on charges including corrupt organizations, conspiracy, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, unlawful transfer of a firearm, criminal use of communications facilities and false statements in connection with a gun trafficking organization that allegedly relied heavily on so-called “straw purchase” schemes.
Whisted, who remains in the county jail, will face a formal arraignment on the charges in county court in May, after which a judge will scheduled a trial date. ....
