The awards were presented to the students from Alec Hunter Academy by headteacher Trevor Lawn. All nine recipients were nominated by their peers and leaders. They received medallions to go with their framed certificates and a cheque for £250 each. Mason Dixon, Hollie Heighes, Zoe Eldridge, Ellis Twydell, Bradley Paxton, Ethan Scherer, Morgan Beard, Ross Creak and Amber Skingle received awards. A school spokesman said: “The Jack Petchey Achievement Awards are presented to young people who have gone above and beyond to achieve. “They are not solely for academic achievement, sometimes recognising a personal triumph, someone who has faced a challenge pushing themselves outside their comfort zone or an outstanding effort of a team player.
