Hazing and illegal alcohol consumption were just some of the policy violations that the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity chapter at University of San Diego was found to breach after its party at Sycuan Casino back in March 2021. All of which were done under the supervision of chapter leadership, according to the updated Fraternity and Sorority Life website for USD. USD updated its webpage the evening of July 6, and found it to violate six parts of the Fraternity and Sorority Guidelines. This includes hazing, underage drinking, an unregistered off-campus event, and prior fraternity leadership knowledge of the event. ....

University of San Diego is investigating its Phi Gamma Delta fraternity after a large, unmasked party at Sycuan Casino in March, according to a former employee who worked the event. Around 20 fake IDs were confiscated. The former employee, Andrew Marosok, originally reported the event to UC San Diego the night of the party on Friday, March 19. News 8 later discovered the fraternity belongs to USD. He was fired the next Monday, according to documents obtained by News 8. Sycuan Casino maintains that Marosok broke his confidentiality contract, stating he was required to report to his managers before informing the university. ....
SAN DIEGO More than 100 University of San Diego students held a vocal protest on the edge of campus Sunday demanding the university expel all students found guilty of sexual assault by a campus hearing board. The protesters said they were frustrated that a student found guilty of sexual assault was banned from campus for spring semester instead of being expelled, contending his possible return this fall would make the campus unsafe. University officials declined to discuss the specific incident for privacy reasons, but they stressed that sexual assaults are handled case-by-case and that punishments are based on a thorough review of all circumstances. ....
