The Division of Student Life and the Office of Enrollment Management are putting out a call for volunteers to help with the Welcome to Michigan program, a campuswide collection of events that help new University of Michigan students make a successful transition to the university community.
While volunteers are needed each year, the number needed this year is higher than ever. Hundreds of volunteers from the campus community are needed to help make this program possible.

The 2021 program, co-led by Student Life’s Center for Campus Involvement and OEM’s Office of New Student Programs, has expanded beyond first-year student activities to offer additional events designed specifically for second-year students and new students’ parents and families.
Charged by the Board of Trustees in the fall of 2020, Purdue University continues taking steps to enhance the experience for Black Boilermakers. As part of the multimillion-dollar Equity Task Force initiative, Purdue is hiring additional recruiters to help attract Black students; is expanding existing programs such as Emerging Leaders; and thanks to more than $25 million in donations, is introducing more scholarship opportunities for underrepresented minority students.

With uncertainty about testing availability still a factor, admissions officials have waived the requirement for incoming first-year students to provide standardized test scores.
Four finalists have been named for the position of vice provost for enrollment management (
VPEM) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The four finalists are scheduled for virtual visits over a two-day period. The visits include: department discussions; meetings with senior administrators, faculty, staff, students, and internal and external constituents; and a public presentation.
The decision to meet with the finalists virtually was made to protect the health and welfare of the
UH community, community members and the general public. The candidates will be participating from their home institutions with each session hosted by
UH Mānoa. Campus and community members, as well as the general public, are encouraged to attend the public presentations.

The University of Kentucky’s 2020-21 events calendar is filled like any typical school year’s: The 42nd Annual Kentucky Women Writers Conference welcomed attendees from around the nation. The UK Alumni Association celebrated homecoming. And to commemorate Black History Month, the Martin Luther King Center held its second annual Men of Color Symposium.
There was one difference, but it was a major one: All of these events were held online.
“The big thing is that this university has been around for 156 years, and we did not shut down because of a pandemic that ravaged the world,” says Adam Recktenwald, UK’s executive director of enterprise applications. “We found a way to keep the doors open.”
