The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) yesterday posted a list of places visited by people who were recently diagnosed with COVID-19 while they were likely contagious, urging people who visited the sites at the same time to practice self-health management.

Enthusiasts are reporting a massive decline in Alishan’s firefly population this year, as the nation’s Tourism Bureau prepares to open parks for the firefly watching festivals.
The low and medium-altitude regions of the Alishan Range which runs from Miaoli County to Chiayi County are home to 42 kinds of fireflies or about two-thirds of all firefly species in Taiwan, the Alishan National Scenic Area Administration said.

Taipei, Feb. 24 (CNA) Tourism operators in Alishan National Forest Recreation Area in central Taiwan have adopted a new way to promote in-depth travel using locally grown coffee.
While Alishan is traditionally known for its natural scenery, operators said Wednesday they are brainstorming new travel packages that highlight personal engagement in the production know-how of local products.
From March 1 to April 28, the Tourism Bureau s Alishan administration office will invite individuals involved in the growing and selling of coffee across Taiwan to stay at 20 coffee farms in the region, where they will learn authentic roasting techniques for mountain coffee beans.

Taipei, Feb. 11 (CNA) Infected cherry trees in the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area have greatly improved after being treated by a Japanese-trained tree doctor, and as a result this year s cherry blossom season will be especially stunning, according to Chiayi Forest District Office.
Cherry blossoms have been a fixture in the Alishan area of Chiayi County, southern Taiwan, for more than a century, after the Japanese government began planting them in large numbers in 1918, said Lee Ting-chung (李定忠), deputy director of the Chiayi Forest District Office.
