MULTAN: The summary regarding cotton support price will be presented before Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) next meeting as consultation to set cotton support price has been completed.
Economic consultant for Minister of National Food Security and Vice President of Pakistan Central Cotton Committee Dr Muhammad Ali Talpur expressed these views in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
He said that the record production of sugarcane, maize and rice was received this year and the federal government had special focus on enhancement of cotton production now.
Ali Talpur said that the summary had been prepared after consultation.

HYDERABAD: Ambiguity in the implementation of ban on cultivation of paddy crop in areas on left bank of Indus River has got growers in lower region of Sindh in a fix as the ban, which was always meant only for Sukkur and Guddu barrage’s left bank canals, has been extended to Kotri Barrage this year.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced the ban in March which is enforced every year under the West Pakistan Rice (Restriction on Cultivation) Ordinance, 1959, to stop cultivation of paddy crop in left bank areas of Indus.

MULTAN: Seven more corona patients died at Nishtar Hospital. The deceased were identified as Maqbool, 70, M Afzal, 45, of Khanewal, Nadira, 50, Ejaz Ahmed, 42, M Javed, 46, Rehana Bibi, 48, and Saira, 63, all from Multan. Total 186 patients, including 71 positive, were under treatment at Nishtar Hospital.
The divisional health authorities compiled statistics from public and private hospitals in Multan division, revealing the overall positive cases percentage reduced from 8.09pc to 5.58pc.
Total 1,911 corona tests were conducted in the division and 112 patients tested positive. Seventy-five patients tested positive in Multan district where 886 corona tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The Khanewal district conducted 356 corona tests and six patients tested positive. The Lodhran district performed 499 corona tests and 14 tested positive. The Vehari district conducted 170 corona tests and 17 patients
