ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the death of one of their former deputies.
Don Kernodle, 71, recently retired from the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office. Kernodle was a former NWA World Tag Team Champion.
Steve Johnson, a writer for Slam Wrestling said he knew Kernodle or the “Kernodledoodle,” personally and that he was a wonderful man.

WADESBORO The Wadesboro Police Department assisted law enforcement from Alamance County to arrest Steven Alexander Stewart III, where he is connected to the murder of a Mexican drug cartel member.
Deputies with the Alamance Sheriff’s Department believe Stewart, 32, was with his brother-in-law Barney Harris at a “stash house” for a Jalisco New Generation cartel in Green Level, N.C. Stewart and Harris were allegedly attempting to rob the house on April 8.
Vehicles were caught on camera near the crime scene, which led the Alamance County Sheriff’s Department to Stewart. Stewart was arrested on April 11 and charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a felon.
The Alamance County Sheriff s Office recently arrested 13 people following an investigation into prostitution and human trafficking.
Following the day-long operation, the sheriff s office arrested 13 people on charges related to prostitution and the possession of illegal narcotics.
Tkyree Dernard Speller, 25, of Hillsborough received the most charges of those arrested Wednesday; he faces multiple felony charges.
He was charged with misdemeanor soliciting prostitution, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, felony possession with the intent to sell or deliver meth, felony possession with the intent to sell or deliver a schedule two controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Speller is being held on a $70,000 secured bond.
