The Alabama Senate later voted to accept House changes and sent the legislation to Gov. Kay Ivey for her consideration. The bill, which was renamed the “Darren Wesley ‘Ato’ Hall Compassion Act,” would allow people with a qualifying medical condition to purchase marijuana after getting a recommendation from a doctor. The Alabama Legislature on Thursday gave its final approval to legislation that would allow wineries anywhere in the country to ship limited quantities of wine directly to Alabama consumers. The bill, HB437, will become law if signed by Gov. Kay Ivey.
This follows a bill, SB126, passed earlier by the Legislature and signed into law by the governor that will allow ABC Board-licensed businesses in the state to deliver wine, beer and spirits to customers’ homes.

MONTGOMERY, Ala (AP) - The Alabama Legislature on Thursday advanced a bill to require public schools to provide menstrual products.
The state House of Representatives on Thursday voted 97-0 for the bill by Rep. Rolanda Hollis of Birmingham. It would require public schools to make feminine hygiene products available to students.
Hollis said “period poverty” affects every county in the state.
The bill moves to the Alabama Senate. However, it is unlikely to reach final passage with few meeting days remaining.
