Residents are urging councils to provide rebates to households that switch to cloth nappies and reusable sanitary products, as existing schemes are overwhelmed.
Just 12 Australian councils currently offer financial incentives to residents who purchase the environmentally friendly alternatives, including Casey, Wyndham, Cardinia Shire and Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. But a series of online petitions is urging more councils to follow suit to reduce waste sent to landfill.
