EUFSC announces Chamber Classic International Competition in Israel

. The distinguished string players invited to be part of the board are: Sonia Simmenauer (Germany), chair of the jury and founder of string quartet agency Impreseriat Simmenauer; violinist Sergei Bresler (Israel), founding member of the Jerusalem Quartet; violinist Karen Shahgaldyan (Russia/Armenia), performer at some of the world’s most esteemed venues; and cellist Raphael Wallfisch (UK), winner of the Gaspar Cassado International Cello Competition and founding member of Trio Shaham Erez Wallfisch.  ’Israel has a proven artistic legacy, with musicians travelling here from all over the world to express their music to audiences and share their main passion’, said Artistic Director of Chamber Classic, Dmitry Yablonsky.

Model train show set for this weekend HICKORY — The 19th annual NC Railroad Expo will be held Friday and Saturday, April 9 and 10, at the Hickory Metro Center. Approximately 275 tables full of railroad lanterns, timetables, books and models of all scales will be available. Live music is slowly making a comeback - but these concerts are experiments and the revelers are guinea pigs. Rosanna Philpott reports. Admission is $5 for adults, while children younger than 12 are admitted for free. Show hours are from noon to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The show is sponsored by the Alexander Chapter of the National Railway Historical Association.

Downtown mini-crawl, Tesla Quartet, and more

Downtown Hickory to hold mini crawl event this weekend The Hickory Downtown Development Association (HDDA) is partnering with the University City Commission and the Zeta Xi chapter of Delta Zeta at Lenoir-Rhyne University in presenting a spring-themed “mini crawl” event. The event will be held Saturday, April 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Hickory. Tickets are on sale for $10 per ticket, and only 100 tickets are available for purchase. Ticket holders will pick up their passports and map on the day of the event from the HDDA tent on Union Square. The ticket holder will then hop around downtown to participating businesses.
