WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Friday, Michael Washington took his first step towards getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
âOne step at a time,â Washington said. âIt was very wonderful. In and out, just like that.â
He received his first Moderna dose at Legacy Lab Services in Williamsburg.
âThe first part of it is over, [and] now, on forward,â he said. âI was skeptical about it for a long time, then my mom convinced me. She s diabetic, so she s got hers, and I m a diabetic also.â
For the last month, Legacy Lab Services CEO Arleigh Hatcher has been calling the shots daily at her clinic.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - A Hampton Roads mother is taking action for your health, helping train healthcare workers and soon giving out free COVID-19 vaccines.
âIt s a labor of love,â Arleigh Hatcher said. âIt can be stressful, but it s something that brings me immense pride.â
Hatcher, a registered nurse, mother of two and local business owner, isnât an entrepreneur, but rather a âmompreneur.â
âWe re doing our best to balance our families and our businesses,â she said. âI do the best I can, where I am.â
