Photo: PTI New Delhi: The television channel Republic TV has sent a legal notice to The Indian Express newspaper, in the aftermath of the latter’s report on channel head Arnab Goswami allegedly having paid BARC chief Partho Dasgupta $12,000 for two separate holidays and a total of Rs 40 lakh over three years. Express had on January 25 reported that Dasgupta had made these claims in a handwritten note to Mumbai police. His lawyer Arjun Singh had said the note had been recorded “under duress” and had no “evidentiary value in the court of law.”

Photo: LinkedIn Media20/Jan/2021 New Delhi: A sessions court in Mumbai has rejected the bail application of former CEO of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) Partho Dasgupta, who was arrested in the television rating points (TRP) scam. Dasgupta was arrested on December 24 and is one of the prime accused in the alleged manipulation of TRPs. The Mumbai police recently filed a 3,400-page chargesheet in which they annexed WhatsApp chats between Republic TV founder Arnab Goswami and Dasgupta, alleging that they colluded to inflate the channel’s ratings. Dasgupta is accused of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
