Circuit Judge Jeff Harris imposed the sentence on Regine McCracken after family and friends of Sidden testified for nearly two hours about the impact of his death.
McCracken pleaded guilty to first-degree involuntary manslaughter on March 10. She also pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault, driving while her license was suspended or revoked and careless and imprudent driving, all misdemeanors.
McCracken, 25, was reportedly on FaceTime and driving 18 mph over the speed limit when she hit Siddens and another pedestrian on Grindstone Parkway, police said at the time of the crash. She was originally arrested on charges of second-degree assault and careless and imprudent driving, but the Boone County Prosecutorâs Office changed the assault charge to involuntary manslaughter when Siddens died in November 2019.
Truck driver reports assault in Columbia parking lot

A truck driver told police three people assaulted him as he sat in his tractor-trailer early Sunday in southeast Columbia.
Officers were called at about 4:15 a.m. to the 3400 block of Grindstone Parkway for an assault with a weapon, according to a Columbia Police Department news release. The truck driver told police that three men approached his parked tractor-trailer and one of them knocked on the window. The driver said the men assaulted him when he got out.
The truck driver had injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Police said no description of the attackers or their vehicle was available. CPD did not say whether a weapon was actually involved.
COLUMBIA - Columbia Police responded to an assault on the 3400 block of Grindstone Parkway around 4:15 a.m. Sunday.
According to a news release, officers made contact with an adult male victim who had a non-life threatening injury. He reported that he had been approached by three men when he was inside his tractor-trailer at a parking lot.Â
He said one of the men knocked out one of the windows.
The man then exited his truck and then the assault took place.
The man was treated by EMS and taken to the emergency room after. No other injuries had been reported.
