MANGALURU: Plans are afoot to set up oxygen plants for government hospitals in Dakshina Kannada district, said Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath. At a meeting of oxygen suppliers, representatives of the Indian Medical Association and officials convened on Monday, the MLA said hospitals in Dakshina Kannada should not suffer due to oxygen shortage crisis at any cost. “We have discussed measures to be taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of oxygen to hospitals. The Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers (MCF) has already agreed to set up oxygen plants in ESI Hospital in the city and at the taluk hospital in Bantwal under the CSR activity. Meanwhile, the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has come forward to set up an oxygen plant for another taluk hospital in the district under their CSR initiative. MANGALURU: Nearly 250 healthcare workers in Dakshina Kannada district participated in the mock exercise held as part of the Covid-19 vaccine dry run on Friday. Doctors, nurses and other staff including drivers in the health sector were administered vaccine shots during the mock exercise at nine centres including Government Wenlock District Hospital in the city ensuring district s preparedness for the upcoming Covid vaccination drive. In addition to Wenlock Hospital, the dry runs were conducted at Urban Public Health Centre (PHC) in Surathkal, Bantwal Taluk Hospital, Community Health Centre in Kadaba, PHC in Naravi, Yenepoya Medical College, Deralakatte, KVG Medical College, Sullia, Indiana Hospital and KS Hegde Medical Academy in Deralakatte.
