HARIPUR: Anjuman Taraqipasand Musanifeen Haripur chapter on Wednesday organized a literary reference for the renowned poet and educationist late Prof Dr. Sufiyan Safi here at the District Bar.
BAJAUR: Prominent religious scholar and former JUI-F MNA Maulana Mohammad Sadiq passed away here on Friday, family and party sources confirmed.
They said that Maulana Sadiq, 80, had been on bed due to diabetes and high blood pressure for the last several weeks and died at his home on Friday morning.
An expert of religious education, the former MNA was the founder head of JUI-F in Bajaur and deputy chief of the former Fata as well. He was an active campaigner of Fata- KP merger and remained MNA from 2002 to 2007. He also remained president of the principals of religious seminaries in Bajaur for several years.
Mardan students protest raise in fee

MARDAN: Hundreds of students of different colleges staged a protest rally against the increase in the BS semester fee by the Abdul Wali Khan University administration.
The rally was staged at Bacha Khan Chowk outside the Government Postgraduate College in Mardan. The rally was led by Abbas Khan, Shabbir Khan, Shahzad Khan, Waqar Swati, Hussain Khan, Yasin Khan, Bacha Khan and other student leaders.
Holding banners inscribed with their demands, the students chanted slogans against the university administration. The angry students blocked the road at Bacha Khan Chowk for traffic for hours.
Poet, educationist Prof Qazi Jamil dies

HARIPUR: Renowned poet, journalist and educationist Prof Qazi Jamil-ur-Rehman died here Friday night.
He was 71 and left behind a widow and three sons. Qazi Jamil was admitted to Corona Ward of Haripur DHQ Hospital about two weeks ago when his condition worsened and he tested Corona-positive. He remained on ventilator for more than a week but could not survive and breathed his last Friday night and Dr Mehvish, in-charge Corona Ward, confirmed his cause of death as Corona-positive.
He was buried in his ancestral graveyard of Sera-e-Saleh on Saturday where poets, journalists, teachers, his former students and local people attended his funeral prayer.
