The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) confirmed Wednesday, July 7, that 99 percent of the Barangay Development Program (BDP) funds intended for 822 barangays cleared of communist terrorist groups (CTG) has been released to the localities as of June 30, 2021.
DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año said that the P16.24-billion funds will be used for 2,276 projects in the 812 barangays whose allocations have already been approved and released by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
“With the P16.24-billion fund downloaded to the recipient Local Government Units nationwide, we will implement some 2,276 projects which will benefit our kababayans in the sitios and barrios that were formerly influenced by the Communist terrorists. These projects are tangible proof of the government’s desire to bring development to far flung areas that have not seen government projects in a very long time,” Año said.

In a statement, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said he received reports from regional and field offices that these swindlers are claiming to have access to the Government Support Fund-Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU). “Let’s protect government funds. We are issuing a warning to the LGUs against third-party entities who are engaging in illegal transactions intending to access the LGSF-FALGU fund,” he said.
