Empire pounce on Ultra for 1st place at CDL Stage 5

The Dallas Empire pounced on the previously unbeaten Toronto Ultra Sunday to claim first place in Group B on the final day of group-stage play at the Call of Duty League s Stage 5.
The Empire (4-1) powered their way to a 3-1 victory over the Ultra (4-1), giving Dallas the top seed in the group by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Dallas started by taking the first two maps, winning 250-231 on Raid Control and 6-4 on Express Search and Destroy. Toronto responded with a 3-2 win on Raid Control, but the Empire clinched the match with a 250-216 decision on Garrison Hardpoint.

The Los Angeles Thieves pulled off a reverse sweep Saturday to top OpTic Chicago 3-2, handing OpTic their first loss of the Call of Duty League s Stage 5.
Chicago (4-1) easily won the first two maps, taking Moscow Hardpoint 250-72 and Express Search and Destroy 6-1, but Los Angeles claimed Checkmate Control 3-1 and Checkmate Hardpoint 250-196.
The Thieves (3-2) earned a 6-3 victory on Moscow Search and Destroy to complete the comeback. On the decisive fifth map, the United States Zack Drazah Jordan led Los Angeles with an 8-4 kill-death ratio.
Ultra stay unbeaten, top Mutineers in CDL Stage 5, Week 3

In a matchup of unbeaten sides in Group B, the Toronto Ultra took down the Florida Mutineers 3-1 and improved to 4-0 Friday in Call of Duty League Stage 5 action.
In the only other match of the day, the Dallas Empire swept the Seattle Surge 3-0 and moved into a tie with Florida for second place in Group B at 3-1.
The Ultra took the first map by winning 214-202 on Garrison Hardpoint, but the Mutineers got revenge on Standoff Search and Destroy with a close 6-5 victory.
OpTic sweep Royal Ravens in CDL Stage 5, Week 3

OpTic Chicago swept the London Royal Ravens 3-0 on Thursday to solidify its first-place standing in Group A of the Call of Duty League s Stage 5.
In the only other match Thursday in the Seattle Surge s home series as Week 3 began, the New York Subliners edged the Paris Legion 3-2.
The 12 teams are split into two groups of six across three weeks of action to determine seeding for the Stage 5 major, which begins July 29. All group-stage matches and playoff matches are best-of-five except for the Aug. 1 grand final, which will be best-of-nine.
