Temples, churches on Palm Beach relax COVID-19 restrictions in wake of CDC update

Palm Beach Daily News More than a year ago, the coronavirus pandemic forced houses of worship in town to cancel in-person gatherings, many of which were replaced with virtual events.  That is slowly changing. With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announcement that fully vaccinated people can now gather with other individuals without masks, some Palm Beach temples and churches are slowly relaxing COVID-19 restrictions. “After the CDC removed restrictions for fully vaccinated people, we sent an email to our members saying that after the second vaccine, they could attend indoor service without a mask,” said Palm Beach Synagogue Rabbi Moshe Scheiner.

M.M. Cloutier Special to the Daily News When a U.S. president arrived in Palm Beach a century ago, there was no Air Force One or flashing-lights motorcades. A houseboat, on a leisurely paced journey down the east coast of Florida, pulled up to a dock just north of today’s Flagler Memorial Bridge. In early 1921, Warren G. Harding  soon to be sworn in as the nation’s 29th president  came ashore, glad-handing near a sprawling yellow hotel that had helped turn Palm Beach into a resort town. “The news spread like wildfire and everyone crowded around to have a peep at our coming greatest man,” an observer noted.
