FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Iona McGregor Fire Department completes thousands of hours of training a year to make sure they’re ready for anything.
Firefighters spent most of the day Thursday training at a Burger King that’s set to be demolished next week.
They said it’s a rare opportunity they couldn’t pass up.
“Having this structure, it enables us to drill on it a little bit so if the moment comes that we have to implement this tactic the staff is ready,” said Division Chief Joel Guzman. “Most of the time we get an acquired structure it’s residential.”
