Dyer, Indiana Firefighters, Police Officers Rescue Ducklings That Fell Down Drain

DYER, Ind. (CBS) Dyer, Indiana firefighters and police officers stepped in Saturday to rescue seven ducklings that fell down a drain.
The ducklings fell down a drain at a pond at Pheasant Hills Park in Dyer.
The fire department said the Momma Duck was reunited with all seven ducklings after they were joined by police officers and Dyer Public Works to rescue them with a net.
“Another great example of DFD, DPD and DPW working together. Birds of a feather….” the Dyer Fire Department wrote on Facebook.
The Chicago rapper’s brother, D Thang, was murdered over the weekend and Sheena Weekly, Duck’s mother, took to social media to urge people not to ignite the violence any further. “[I told] my people not to get on the f cking internet and make fun of that boy and say this and say that,” she said in a video.
“When is it gon’ stop? My babies are dead, they’re not coming back, but the ones that are here, I want them to stay.”

Weekly posted a screenshot of her reaching out to Dontay Banks Sr., in wake of him losing a son. “Gm DURK hope god is mendin your heart as I type this u have my deepest condolences on the lost of your son,” she texted with a series of sad emojis and broken-hearted emojis.
Although the Mother Goose House has recently sustained damage, representatives of the business said they will continue with plans to hold their Easter Egg Giveaway event. On Friday, April 2, and Saturday, April 3, community members are encouraged to shop at locally-owned small businesses on North Main and get a free prize egg to take to one of the other shops.
Sherry Spradlin, owner of the Mother Goose Gift Shop and Inn, said that 12 local businesses will be participating in this year s event. Each of the participating businesses have plastic eggs with business cards or coupons in them, she said, and those business will be giving out eggs for other businesses.
