Date Time COVID-19 Recovery Grants awarded to assist WA youth Grants totalling more than $202,000 awarded to community groups and local government through the COVID-19 Youth Recovery Grants Program Thirty one grants awarded for projects that support young people during the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic Youth Minister Dave Kelly today announced the recipients of 31 grants worth a total $202,250.50 for local governments and community organisations that will deliver projects to support young people during the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Program is empowering young people to drive socially inclusive and innovative projects within their communities, with up to $10,000 available for organisations to engage young people aged 10 – 25 years.

Date Time Splash of Colour to brighten electrical cabinets and pump station in Yanchep and Mandurah Four water and wastewater assets have been painted in Yanchep and Mandurah as part of Water Corporation’s Splash of Colour Program Artwork designed by WA artists with input from local primary school students Fifty-five water and wastewater assets have been transformed since 2017  Water Minister Dave Kelly today celebrated the work of local artists who have brightened three electrical cabinets and a wastewater pump station in Yanchep and Mandurah as part of Water Corporation’s Splash of Colour Program. Mandurah artist Elli Moody and Mullaloo artist Peter Ryan were enlisted to transform each asset into colourful artwork which reflects the importance of water to local communities and ecosystems.

WA-first trial to investigate effectiveness of Gross Pollutant Traps Ecologically important Herdsman Lake selected as trial site Supports WA Government’s Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030 Water Minister Dave Kelly today announced that the installation of specialised traps designed to capture plastic and floating litter on stormwater drains at Herdsman Lake had been completed under a new Water Corporation trial funded by the McGowan Government. Three Gross Pollutant Traps (GPTs) have been fitted to drainage inlets and outlets at the lake, which is an important urban habitat for waterbirds and other native fauna. The two-year trial will assess the devices’ effectiveness and determine operational requirements such as maintenance and litter disposal.

Forest Products Commission community support grants announced

The Forest Products Commission has awarded $40,000 in grants to South-West community groups 1 grant recipients include schools, sports clubs and volunteer bushfire brigades Forestry Minister Dave Kelly today announced the successful applicants of the Forest Products Commission’s (FPC) Community Support Program. This year’s grants program saw an increase in total applications, with the majority coming from the South-West. One of the 20 grant recipients, Capel River Girl Guides, will use the grant to help take its members on camps to enjoy our State’s fantastic forests. This year’s program also continues its support for local Volunteer Fire Brigades, with four brigades receiving grants in 2021.
