COVID-19: Centre to give assistance of Rs 1,500 to each transgender person

This form is also available on the website of the National Institute of Social Defence.
To ensure that the information about this reaches a maximum number of Transgender Persons, this form is also being circulated on social media with the help of NGOs and CBOs, the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment said.
Counselling services helpline:
A free helpline for distressed transgender persons for psychological support and mental health care has also been announced by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Any transgender person can connect with experts on helpline number 8882133897. This helpline will be functional from Monday to Saturday between 11 AM to 1 PM and 3 PM to 5 PM.  ....

The Centre on Monday announced a one-time subsistence allowance of Rs 1500 for each transgender as immediate support to meet their basic requirements during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A 6- month Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Program on rehabilitation of Divyangjan was launched by the Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment. Union Minister of State, SJ&E, Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar ; Australian High Commissioner to India, Barry O’Farrell; High Commissioner of India to Australia, ShManpreet Vohra; Secretary DEPwD, GoI, M Anjali Bhawra, Vice-Chancellor of Melbourne University Professor Duncan Maskell., S, DEPwD,  Prabodh Seth and Dr. Nathan Gills of Melbourne University were also among those present at the launch event.
According to the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, the program aims to create a pool of grass-root rehabilitation workers at the community level who can work alongside ASHA and Anganwadi workers to handle cross-disability issues and facilitate inclusion of persons with disabilities in the society. Lucknow, May 19 : The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has become one of the first states in the country to successfully operationalize Elderline , a helpline to assist and comfort the senior citizens amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic across the state.
The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India had come up with an initiative to reach out to the senior citizens in times of crisis to help them in terms of health concerns, emotional support and legal aid.
The toll-free helpline facility had been made operational in Uttar Pradesh to extend complete support to the elderly citizens across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. ....
